Privacy Policy

This policy explains what calcx.store collects, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address, and your password. We never store the password itself. We store a salted PBKDF2 hash of it, so even we can't read it.
• Your calculators:

- the nickname you give each one and which model it is

- for the TI-84 Plus CE, its calculator ID, which we need to make your code

- for CalcX Lite, the request code it showed

• Purchases: what you bought, for which calculator, the amount, the date, and Stripe's order reference. We also keep the unlock codes we made for you.
• Sign-in security: a random session token in a cookie called cx_s keeps you signed in. We also keep short-lived counts of failed sign-ins per email address and IP address to stop password guessing. Those counts are cleared after about 15 minutes.

What we don't collect

• Card details: we never see or store your card number. Payments go through Stripe and Link.
• Advertising and tracking: we don't run ads, tracking pixels or analytics on this site, and we don't sell or rent your information.

Why we use it

• Your account: to create it and keep you signed in.
• Your purchases: to make your codes, give you your downloads and let you reinstall.
• Support: to answer your emails, and to handle refunds and payment problems.
• Security: to keep the store secure and prevent fraud and code sharing.

Who else handles it

• Stripe and Link: they process payments and are the merchant of record for orders. They receive your email and payment details, and their privacy policy applies to that information.
• Cloudflare: it hosts the site and its database. Your data may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in the United States.
• Font providers: pages load fonts from Google Fonts and Fontshare. Their servers see your IP address when the fonts load.
• The law: we may share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Account data: we keep it while your account is open.
• Purchase records: we may keep them longer where tax or accounting rules require it.
• When you ask us to delete your account: we delete it and your calculators, but keep only the purchase records we're legally required to keep.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing [email protected] from the address on your account. Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) gives you these rights. If you aren't happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

CalcX is made for students, but the store isn't meant for children under 13. If you're under 13, a parent or guardian needs to create the account and make any purchase.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie, cx_s, to keep you signed in. It's marked Secure and HttpOnly and lasts up to 30 days. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
